Q. Is there a speed limit on the Malaysian roads and are seat belts required?
A. Speed limits vary on each road. The normal speed limit on the highway is 110 km/hr. Speed limit signboards are available for reference. Please do not exceed the speed limit. Seat belts are required for the driver and the front seat's passenger.

Q. Will we be driving on the same side of the road as in the USA?
A. No, in Malaysia, we drive on the right side of the road.

Q. Do we need a Malaysian driving permit -- does it require a test?
A. If you carry a valid International Driving License, you may not require a Malaysian driving license. However, please check with the Malaysian Road and Transport Department for futher clarification.

Q. How much can I take currency back to the US tax-free?
A. Under the Travellers Declaration regulation, permitted currency limits are as follows : A resident and a non-resident is permitted to carry into and out of Malaysia, RM notes not exceeding RM1,000 per person. There is no limit on the amount of foreign currency notes or traveller's cheques carried into Malaysia by resident and a non-resident. A resident is permitted to carry out of Malaysia, foreign currency notes including traveller's cheques, not exceeding RM10,000 equivalent per person. A non-resident is permitted to carry out of Malaysia, foreign currency notes including traveller's cheques, not exceeding the amount brought in.

Q. What is the legal drinking age?
A. 18 years old.
